MISSION STATEMENT
The mission statement of NHSBC is :

to provide each student with an equal opportunity to excel in basketball within his/her
capabilities and develop life and character skills to live by, to learn with and to lead with.
GOALS
The goals of NHSBC are :

to recognize and integrate sport (basketball) as positive and sustaining forces in students’ lives.

to increase participation in youth sports at grassroots level and beyond

to increase students access to physical health care and development.

to create the development of new interests and the pursuit of one’s talent

to foster a positive altitude in students towards school and the sporting environment.

to allow new students to learn the sport while enabling experienced players to continue their passion while staying active & healthy.

BASKETBALL 2015 TO DATE
Nigel Basketball -The Knights - joined the Federations League this year for the first time. We entered four teams. Girls u/16 and Open, and Boys u/16 and u/18.
The league is played once every month at Kathlehong Sports Centre. There we compete with top-flight basketball clubs. We have so far been to Katlehong twice. The girls lost on the first occasion, and on the second they won by default.
The Boys u/16 lost on the first occasion, and the u/18 won. On the second occasion the boys lost but they put up some sterling performance and played the most intelligent basketball since the beginning of the tournament.
This is the dawn of a new era in Basketball for Nigel High.
